Hello,
I have a Cisco 7965 IP phone configured in SIP mode behind an ER-POE. NAT is used on the WAN side, as is typical. This phone's NAT traversal support is very poor, to the point that it can't successfully register with my SIP service provider because it doesn't handle the private/public IPs in the SIP header fields correctly. I have no problems with other SIP phones behind the same router, with no special configuration needed on the router (just basic masquerade NAT).
I like this phone and would like to use it, so my question is whether the ER-POE can act as a very simple SIP proxy / forwarder? Basically, I would like to configure the phone to register with the ER using its LAN IP address in order to avoid the NAT issues, and the ER would then register with the SIP server on the WAN side. Basically, the phone would "see" the ER as a SIP server. Does a package like this exist that can run on the ER?
In case you're wondering why I want to go through all this just to use my 7965, it's because I really like the phone notwithstanding its nonexistent NAT support.
Thanks,
