Ubiquiti and Scanners/Honeypots

As a relatively new user of an EdgeMax Router (Lite), I respect its power as a router but I have also come across a possible concern and wonder how I may harden my router's presence on the internet (or if what I am reading is old information).

After reading information on scanners then honeypots, one article (dated 28 Mar 2016) showed the top 10 username and passwords to contain Ubiquiti's default username and password.

To have within the top 10 usernames and passwords Ubiquiti's default credentials is a pause for concern and quite interesting.

What can be done to harden my router's presence besides changing the logon credentials?
