CLI merge cmd details

I've scrounged through the forums and looked at the EdgeMax 1.9 User Guide but can't find any details about the merge command.

So some questions:

1) Does merge require a reboot? (Hopefully not)

2) Is this the typical sequence?

    merge

    commit

    save

Or does a merge also do a commit and/or save?

3) Are there any limitations regarding the config sections that can be merged?

4) Any gotchas or other info that would be good to know?
