ERL 3 upgrade from 1.8.5 to 1.9 seems to fail

I downloaded the 1.9 upgrade to the ERL 3 this morning and when I uploaded the rascal to the ERL

all I get is a spinning wheel, I gave up after two hours...

What am I doing wrong?
