Hi all,
this is the network config at my home at the moment:
- Fritz!Box router which at the moment makes everything (modem/router/switch/AP)
- Synology NAS (connected to Fritz!Box)
- MacMini as home automation server (connected to Fritz!Box)
Then in other rooms I place Gigabit switch from TP-Link and I have connected iMac, TV and a couple of other things.
I started to split the WiFi part because I am not satisfied, because the telephone plug at home forced me to put the modem/AP at a corner of the flat and the wifi coverage was not optimal.
So I ordered yesterday a UAP-AC-LR to put at the center of the house, connect it to a Gigabit switch from TP-Link and then switch off WiFi of Fritz!Box.
I would like from the router more capabilities, VLAN for example to separate traffic somehow, more firewall capabilites, port forwarding and so on.
Would the Edge Router Lite a good choice? I have to count how many ports I need, but I will get it somehow Image may be NSFW.
Clik here to view.
Furthermore, near the router I have a TP-Link switch which eventually I can use if needed, so the chain would be.
Modem --> ERL (and here MacMini and NAS directly connected) --> Switch which gets ETH cables from other rooms.
Would be a good solutions?
