Hi Everyone,
I have an EdgeRouter Pro, running 1.8.0 that has been working great for the longest time. Recently, I changed uplink method, and I'm experiencing problems. Here is the quick and dirty explanation:
1. eth7 was xxx.72.94/30, with gateway being xxx.72.93
2. eth6 still is xxx.76.1/27, with multiple radios haning off this subnetwork
3. The rest of xxx.76.0/22, is routed bit by bit through xxx.76.0/27 - all static routes
4. I had a problem with the router carrying config forward from 1.6.0, so I reset and re-entered the config prior to the change.
My new internet connection is on a tagged VLAN, so I created eth7.200 with a new gateway:
eth7.200 is xxx.231.254/30, with gateway being xxx.231.253
I removed the IP address on eth7.
When I made the cutover, traffic was not flowing at first. I then thought to check ARP Proxy on VLAN 200, and lo and behold, everyting started to work - mostly. Bear in mind there are 300 customers haning off the end of eth6, so kind of careful about being out too long :-)
The first thing I noticed that was that I could no longer log into xxx.76.1, which was the IP I normally assicated to the router. Then I noticed some odd behaviour, always around xxx.76.1. For example, I have an Ubuntu server on xxx.76.5, and I can't ping xxx.76.1, but can ping everyting else. However, if I do a trace route or mtr, I get some xxx.76.1 flagged as a problem. mtr say's 50-95% packet loss on xxx.76.1, and fluctuates between that.
My config is super simple. Ports with subnetworks on them. Static routes. Gateway route. I suspect the problem lies either with the VLAN or the ARP Proxy setting. I'm afraid to change the ARP Proxy remotely (because of the 300 customers), but can go onsite as needed.
Help!
