I am trying to setup the firewall rules on my ERLite so I can RDP onto my machine at home.
I have setup the DNAT and a ruleset on my WAN_IN firewall policy that currently only allows traffic from my work's IP address into my local network. I tested this by taking my work laptop and connecting via VPN. When on VPN I can connect to RDP but as soon as I disconnect im blocked. Also if I change the source IP address in the rule while im on VPN my access is denied.
Then I noticed that in the same place that you can specify a source MAC address. I got exited about this as I figure I can add the mac address of my laptop so if im away from the house i don't have to connect via vpn.
However, tried the mac address of a couple of my different machines and it doesn't seem to work the same way as specifying a source IP address. Does this feature work and what if anything could I be doing wrong?
