Hello,
I've been running an EdgeRouter Lite since 2014. I did need to replace the flash drive about a year ago due to the original failing (fairly common the way it sounds). However, this past weekend I encounted a different problem. I have a fairly common setup with eth0 being my WAN and eth1 being my LAN1 and eth2 being my LAN2 (which I don't use). I hadn't touched anything and was having Internet issues. I was getting close to, if not, my full downstream speed of 300 mbps but my upload speeds were horrible, maxing out at about 100 kbps. I did a bunch of testing, finally narrowing it down to the router. I swapped out cables, ports on my switch, etc. Finally I changed from using eth1 to using eth2 for my LAN port and things were back to normal. I realized this port was the problem because I was going to try upgrade to the latest version of the EdgeMax software to see if that would solve the problem, and the upload (via web GUI) was extremely slow. After seeing that, I decided to make the change.
So my question, how common is a physical port failure and if so, has anyone ever seen it fail like this in only one direction?
The port was negotiating at gigabit speeds. I even changed to force 100 full duplex and it made things worse in both directions.
