I am trying to setup a new home network using UBNT equipment (in lieu of prior Cisco equipment I sold off before moving). Right now my network is in the early stages of being architectured out but I am running into wall after wall with the UBNT equipment that was trivial with Cisco. In either case, currently, the attached network equipment:
- Arris SURFBoard SB6190 - Cable Modem
- UBNT EdgeRouter Lite (ERL3) - Router coordinating between SB6190, EdgeSwitch 24, and currently unattached Unifi Switches and Linksys EA9500s
- UBNT EdgeSwitch ES24 Lite - "Lights up" all ethernet ports throughout the house
Naturally, when the Arris and the EdgeRouter are connected directly together and a computer attached to one of the other ethernet ports, the devices work as perdicted. The problem is coming up when the EdgeSwitch is attached to the network.
The EdgeRouter and EdgeSwitch are connected on eth1 (ER) and 0/7 (ES). VLANs have been setup and L3 routing has been enabled on the EdgeSwitch for the various 24 locations as well as the WAN uplink 0/7.
Now I believe I am running into two problems; a misconfiguration of 0/7 which is attached to VLAN1121 which reports a status of down as well as excluded and going into the switch configuration shows 0/7 as active but down. The other problem is when adding a static route, the EdgeRouter responds with the following error:
To be honest, I am not sure where to go from here because I can't really find any material about the above error coming from the EdgeRouter and I really don't think I have the EdgeSwitch configured correctly to send the WAN traffic to the EdgeRouter over 0/7 and VLAN1121 since the switch is reporting the VLAN is inactive and down.
I have never had such difficulty setting up such a basic networking task but I believe this is the price of delving deep into a new company's equipment rather than sticking to what I was used to. However, performance wise, the EdgeRouter is at least delivering far better throughput than any previous devices; I just need to learn the workflow of UBNT equipment.
To surmise: Trying to connect an EdgeSwitch to and EdgeRouter and off to the internet and I do not believe I have [at the very least] the EdgeSwitch configured correctly [and possibly the EdgeRouter].
