Syslog messages and traffic analysis questions.

I am a bit new to this router and have a few questions with a new config.  ERL is running EdgeOS 1.8.  

Q1: In the syslog I am seeing some weird stuff in the syslog and am not sure why.. "damemon.notice of fw miniupnpd[1708]: HTTP listening on port 44261"  What is this?

Q2: The Traffic Analysis now shows outside external IP addresses, is there a way to filter these out? 

Q3: Using the configurations and samples found in these forums I have built a new soho config.  How do I test / tell if this secure enough or should I be looking elsewhere for configuration information?
