My setup is an EdgeRouter Litev1.9.0 connected to a Cisco DPC3848VM modem (in bridge mode). Most of the time it negotiates at 100 BaseT instead of gigabit. I've tried swapping out cables (brand new short cat cables) and using different ports on both the EdgeRouter and the modem. When I plug the exact same cable into my EdgeSwitch Lite (48 port) it immediately negotiates at gigabit with no issues, but plugging into the routerit's very slow to negotiate and when it finally completes it's almost always at 100 BaseT.
I've done a bunch of googling and can't find anyone else with these issues with that same Cisco router/modem and given that it immediately works as expected going into my switch I don't think the Cisco is the issue here. Also this is not the first device that has only worked at 100 BaseT with this router, this is the third cable/DSL router I've tried with it and they have all only gotten 100 BaseT. It's been like this since I purchased it but until recently I didn't care as much because my WAN connection was always less than 100Mbps until now .. but now I've upgraded to a 250Mbps and can't get full speed because the router can't seem to keep a gigabit connection. The modem installer from the cable company was zero help at all, he told me to get a "good router, like a D-link or something" (LOL, ya ok buddy).
I've tried just about everything I can think of including swapping cables, different connections, forcing the ports in question down to 100 BaseT FD and then setting back to auto, numerous reboots of both devices, etc.
Any help is appreciated.
