Edge router POE Reboot issue

In May 2016, I purchased an Edge Router POE and was able to get it configure quickly and easily.  It has been working terrific and haven't had any problems until recently.

I put the router in my garage as part of a home network upgrade.  It is mounted to plywood and it works fine.  A few days ago, I had to power cycle the router.  It took a number of power cycles to get the router to come back on-line.

Then last night, I tried to get Caller ID working again with FIOS.  I made the changes that I thought were needed, but wasn't able to get Caller ID to work.  So I locked myself out of the router and had to reboot, in fact I had to do a system rest back to factory.

So when that came up, I was able to get into the router using port 0 and configure it to connect to the ONT for FIOS.  I went through the proceedures and then I said go ahead and reboot with the new configuration.  When it rebooted the device did not want to come up properly.  I had a continous ping from my laptop going to the base IP address and it would go from "Request timed out" to "Reply from <ip of laptop>: Destination host unreachable."  At one point, I let it sit for like 5 or 10 minutes and didn't come up.

Then I went back to the router and did a factory reset and it came up and I was able to configure it again and again the same thing happened.  When I reset it and decided to make ETH4 to POE first before doing the wizard to set it up for Internet access.  When I ran the wizard it says that it needed to be set to factory and reboot.  So I did that and then I configured it using WAN+2LAN2 Wizard.  Before I rebooted the system after the configuration, I removed the two network cables that I had in the router and this time the router came back up fine.  This process took an hour and half.

I don't have what was going on with the console as I don't have a USB to serial cable to connect to the console port.  Just seems strange that I'm able to boot into factory default without a problem, but when I ran the wizard with a new configuration that router didn't want to come up properly.  I will look to get a USB to serial cable so that I can connect to the console port to see what it is saying when it comes up.

Has anyone else had an experience like this?  If so what did you do to correct it.

Thanks

Terry
