Hey guys, somewhat new to ubiquiti products, but I am having an issue with my ER-X router. I downloaded the newest available firmware and installed without an issue. My problem, is that, I am unable to access the internet once the ER-X is installed. Here is what I have done:
Modem -> eth0
Host -> eth1
I initially setup my host on eth0, set the static address and access the router OS. I went through "Basic Setup," where I chose eth0 as my WAN port. Once it rebooted, I swapped my host to eth1 and made sure WAN was on eth0. I could not get on the internet, Windows would tell me the DNS server is not responding.
Reset the router, went through setup again, however I used, WAN 2LAN2 wizard this time only to have the same problem.
I eventually got internet to work, by using either my ISP or Google DNS settings and input those under settings -> Name Server.
What am I doing wrong? Watching a few of the videos online, it seems I should have been able to run the Wizard and that was all. Any reason it was not pulling my ISP dns? If i went back to the previous router, archer c7, it would work. My ISP is Time Warner Cable.
Another side question. After I did get the net up and running using the manually input DNS server values, I hooked up my ubiquiti ac pro ap. Since the ER-X only support 24v via POE, I used the included injector and hooked the AP up to eth4. However, I did not change any of the POE settings, they are still disabled and if I attempted to enable passthrough/passive it would give me an error. I am assuming, I do not need to do anything to POE as I am running power off the injector for the AP? Thank you.
