Lets say, you have 10 wireless towers in a city connected over L2 network path converging to your central office EdgeSwitch and then to EdgeRouter PRO which is currently acting as a central PPPoE service router for the whole network of 10 towers.
All of our customers are PPPoE authenticated only and we have total of 4 /22 only which is currently defined in the CO EdgeRouter Pro directly, and any customer from any tower, when his PPPoE gets authenticated it auto picks a IP from the DHCP server of those /22 and the customer is conencted to the internet.
Now, we want to turn this 10 towers to a routed network.
So, we have to place a EdgeRouter X in each tower now.
So, basically, any customer who is conencted to Tower A, will get his PPPoE authenticated to the Tower's EdgeRouter X only, right ?
But will it be able to pick the IP from the CO EgdeRouterPro ?
Or we have to define the IP blocks in the tower end router itself ?
If that is the case, how will you know, which tower has how many customers and it will be very cumbersome to handle, as today a tower might have 200 customers, tomorrow it may be 100 and next tower today it might be 10, and next year it may be 200.
So, is there a way, we can let the tower end routers to talk to the CO router is such a way that, it should pick the IP from the CO router only, that way, all IP blocks are defined in the CO router and job done.
How do we achieve this ?
