After doing a lot of reading here in the forums I was able to upgrade my two day old “EdgeRouter X” to firmware version 1.8.5 and configure it so that it would pass the traffic for IPTV.
When looking under “Traffic Analysis” I could not see any data being presented that would appear to indicate the bandwidth being used for IPTV and I suspect it was because it was being included with “other” traffic.
After further reading I was able to create a custom category “IPTV” but could not seem to add applications based on the firewall rules I created which allowed IPTV to work. After still more reading I was able to find existing apps using the CLI that I thought might show the IPTV traffic and added them to the new ”IPTV” category so that it looks like the following.
______________
Cat:IPTV
IGMP
Border Gateway Multicast Protocol (BGMP)
Multicast Source Discovery Protocol (MSDP)
Multicast DNS
______________
Unfortunately I am still not seeing anything new in the right hand pane and I have not been able to find anything else on the subject.
My question is, is the problem of not seeing the IPTV traffic related to the use of incorrect apps or do I have to do something further for the category I created to be recognized by Traffic Analysis?
The offload module is not loaded and both the DPI and export are enabled.
