QoS for VoIP - Port Priority policies

Hello,

 

I would like to establish some port based priority policies on my ER PoE5 for our VoIP system. We're running six VoIP phones on my network right now, will be onboarding a few more as the year goes on. We currently have 50 mbps (on paper) up and down. Closer to 38-42.

 

I had first put in the suggested commands found in this KB article. My users are still experiencing intermittent call drops and quality issues and I feel that the KB article did not fully address the problem. Plus, 8x8 couldn't tell me anything about DSCP and I'm not clear on the concept myself.

 

Based on this article from 8x8, I should be applying a high priority to the ports listed. I found this post on the forums about QoS Priority settings and tried following the commands verbatim, only change I made was changing the port to the ports listed in the 8x8 documentation. The router didn't let me commit the changes and gave me an error. Something to do with bandwidth not being applied.

 

Anyway. I'm still feeling my way around all of this, and I was hoping that I could get some guidance on traffic shaping policies for VoIP as I'm feeling a little lost.
