I'm not sure if I should be posting this in the UniFi forums or here in the EdgeMAX one since it concerns both, but here goes.
Two months back I first heard of Ubiquiti and their awesome equipment... I, being a Security Professional, and geek couldn't wait to get my hands on a new AP and Router to play around for my fairly basic home network and so I ordered that afternoon. I purchased a single UniFi AC Pro (2800sqft house) and an EdgeRouter PoE, but now I am seeing more and more information about the UniFi Security Gateway (USG). With the ER it doesn't seem to fully report/integrate with the UniFi Controller Software statistics.
Can someone help me understand if I purchased the right equipment? What are the primary differences between the ER and the USG? Are they close enough that there are plans to merge them or phase one out or are they both for different purposes? I know I would loose my PoE capability and have to go back to power injectors, but functionally..?
