Hello, and in advance thanks for fielding this basic question. I have done a good bit of searching, but although the answer may be in forums/manual, I may be missing it.
My set-up is very simple, using the EdgeRouter PoE (v1.9.1) for WAN route to a single LAN (10.1.1.1/24) via eth1 to hardware switch.
Current config summary :
- eth0 dhcp to FIOS
- eth1 (not used, but set up as address 192.168.1.1/24 description Local
- eth2 - Connects to Switch ( description "Local 2")
- switch switch0 address 10.1.1.1/24 interface eth2
- dhcp-server shared-network-name LAN2 subnet 10.1.1.0/24
- dns forwarding listen-on switch0
- port-forward hairpin-nat enable lan-interface switch0 wan-interface eth0
My questions are:
1) In this use-case,"switch0" using only eth2; can eth3-4 be used without 'bridging' or perfomance issues?
2) is "switch0" ip addr 10.1.1.1/24 needed? can I just put that range on interface eth2? (no reason, just a learning "why" type question.
In advance, Thanks
