Hi all,
I'm new to Ubiquiti products and have a lot to learn in respect to networking, but I've got a simple question regarding an installation I'm doing for a friend's business.
Basically I've installed a camera system for him and I purchased a Ubiquiti PoE switch which seemed pretty good so thought I'd complement it with a router to get the best possible performance out of the network.
The problem is reading about setting one of these things up is bewildering. It seems recent versions of the OS have a wizard which seem to set it up to an acceptable standard?
All I need to do is setup port forwarding (using the GUI seems simple enough) and also configure MAC address filtering to block certain devices from having internet access (hopefully this isn't too difficult).
My main concern though is that all routers that I've used have security settings (flood, ping etc protection). I don't know if by just letting the wizard configure the network if I'm opening it up to any risk. Outside of firmware updating and changing login details, are there any recommendations? I will have a few ports open to allow access to the server to view the cameras.
Thank you for your assistance.
