Thanks for any help for a complete Ubiquiti Newb.. I am a former PfSense lover but need to move to an appliance and I don't like the PfSense appliances offered.
I am VERY new to EdgeMax routers and Ubiquiti in general. I bought my first Ubiquiti EdgeLite3. I have two internet connections and I am trying to get my router setup using the GUI if possible so I can use it.
I intend to learn the CLI interface and learn as much as possible about your routers and setting them up in different situations but for now, I need a working configuration for my needs.
I used your load balancing wizard and checked "Failover Only" on the Eth1 port when entering the info for the wizard.
As far as I can tell this all works as intended with the setup below:
eth0 - Wan1 (Time Warner Cable)
eth1 - Wan2 (AT&T) Used only when Wan1 goes down
eth2 - LAN
Where I am getting stuck is when I create a static route to route certain destination IPs/networks through Wan2 on eth1. When I do this, the IP I try to route through Wan2 just causes LAN clients to not get through to that destination IP.
I assume this is because I also told the router to not use Wan2 unless Wan1 is down, since it's not, I guess it doesn't let me route anything through Wan2.
Is there is a work around for this? If it's a CLI work around, can you provide very simple step by step instructions? I am a total novice with your gear and haven't even opened up the CLI yet.
It's important for us to be able to route certain destination IP addresses out our cleaner connection on WAN 2 unless of course Wan2 is down, then we want them to go out Wan1. We did this very thing with our PfSense device and we are trying to duplicate this with your devices. If we can get this right, then we can start selling these to our customers that use our VoIP Service.
