I'm planning to buy new hardware to upgrade my home network. At home I run a server, and have multiple managed switches to get VLANs over my network. I live in The Netherlands with "KPN" as my ISP, which delivers 500Mbit upload and download over fiber. KPN delivers a completely locked down router with very limited options, also, they don't support any bridging to let other devices manage things. Currently I have my network behind this router and manually port-forward everything I need. But I'm still limited to the routers hardware.
My ISP delivers the internet through fiber, which is converted to a single Gbit RJ-45 connection before it reaches my router. This connection is connected with the ISP and trunks 3 VLANs (one for internet, one for IPTV and one for Voip). It is possible to split the VLANs and let a managed router handle all traffic, it does however require some tutorials. Such as this one
I'm choosing Ubiquiti because I'm also upgrading my wireless network by adding 2 AP AC PRO's while I buy a router. The switches I currently use are TP-Link TL-SG3210 and TL-SG3216.
Now is my question, what do you advice that I buy. I'm willing to pay for the Edgerouter ER-8 if it gives me any benefits. I just want to be sure I can optimally create my network to get rid of my ISP's router, and possibly play with some other network settings in the future.
