I am running a few ER-X SFP and non SFP, all with v1.9.0 with PoE watchdog(s) setup. None of them show any stats other than they state "running" when using the CLI command "show interfaces ethernet poe watchdog". IIRC when I first tested the poe watchdog in my lab, it showed the ping count and failure count but now those stats are staying at 0. At home, I have an ER-X, I tested the poe watchdog by unplugging my DSL modem to cause ping failures, and it didn't show any failures in the stats.

Two of the ER-X are running as a router, the other two ER-X SFP are running with all the interfaces bridged.
Any other details you need? Any suggestions?
