Right now my setup is as follows:
- Cable Modem
- WatchGuard T10 (Soon will have a M200)
- 2 EdgeSwitchs
- Active Directory Server
With this setup I'm having a lot of issues with my older Apple TVs exhausting my DHCP scope. I have tried everything I could think of to resolve this problem, I've tried setting the Apple TVs to use static IPs but they still try to grab IPs from my DHCP server causing "BAD_ADDRESS" entries. When I unplug them all I no longer have "BAD_ADDRESS" in my scope. I noticed this problem when I setup the Watchgaud T10 as my router & firewall. Appealingly there is a similar issue with the 3rd gen Apple TVs when hooked up via Ethernet it will constantly ask the DHCP server for an address but it doesn't cause a "BAD_ADDRESS" entry in DHCP.
If anyone has any ideas on this please let me know and I will give it a shot.
Here is the setup I'm thinking of going with to try and fix the problem:
- Cable Modem
- WatchGuard T10 (Soon will have a M200)
- EdgeRouter Pro
- 2 EdgeSwitchs
- Active Directory Server
If I understand how to set this up the cable modem will plug into the WatchGuard (Watchguard will be put into bridged mode), WatchGuard will plug into the WAN/eth0 port on the EdgeRouter (Not sure how to configure the EdgeRouter to work this way) and then EdgeRouter will plug into one of the EdgeSwitches.
Please let me know if you have concerns with this setup or if you can point me in the right direction on how to setup the EdgeRouter to work this way.
Thank you in advance.
