I had forgotten that I had hacked my dhclient scripts to not use the DNS servers from my ISP on my edgerouter. Then I updated to 1.8 and started having problems with DNS hijacking and my split-DNS VPN not working on one of my machines. Took me awhile to realize the DNS servers had changed on the edgerouter. Eventually I figured out that I could set the no-update option for name-server and solve my problem without as horrible a hack as I did on 1.7
But this ought to be easier:
The help text for interfaces/ethernet/eth1/dhcp-options/name-server says to use it to not update DNS, but doesn't actually tell you "enter no-update to not update DNS servers". Should change the help text.
More than that, it seems like I probably always want this behavior if I enter static DNS servers in the System menu. So maybe move a single checkbox there that says "use these servers instead of DHCP-provided DNS servers" or something like that. Feels like that's the first place to look.
Thanks,
Bruce
